Listeners know that it’s been a rocky year for the Satellite Sisters. We lost our mother Edna Dolan to lung cancer and our father has late stage Alzheimer’s.
That’s why it warmed our hearts to see this photo of them together included in the New York Times Magazine’s end-of-year interactive feature entitled “The Lives They Lived.”
Lian submitted this beautiful photo and wrote the lovely copy that describes this special day last year when we all celebrated Julie’s son’s wedding in New Orleans. You can read it here.

My parents were married over sixty years when he died. What a generation of role models.

Your mother’s was a life well lived and her beautiful family is the legacy she has left behind. What a touching piece and a lovely photograph. When listening to the program after the wedding in New Orleans back in 2011, I cried because it was so touching that four generations of Dolans were together at this family occasion. May you find joy in the memory of that wonderful day and may it bring a smile whenever you think about it.
