New Satellite Sisters Show Jan 22: Root Canal Rage and other shaky attempts at self-improvement

by Liz on January 22, 2012

Listen to the newest Satellite Sisters show here.

Is it just us or are you also trying some new things in the new year?  Monica, Sheila and Liz each have a tale of a personal experiment that could have gone horribly wrong.  But so far, so good.

Lian, on the other hand, did actually lose her mind.  Hear her tale of tears, desperation and fro-yo.

But be warned.  It’s ugly.

Okay…That was one of the best podcasts in a long time. Tears running down my face. God bless you. Lian. Glad you got some yogurt and jeans after you survived the torture chamber. Sheila– have you played any croquet lately?

Thanks so much, all of you, for brightening what had been a gloomy, blah day for me.

That was so funny. I downloaded this podcast late and took it to bed with me. I was trying to laugh quietly so I wouldn’t wake my husband and also cried. I was still laughing about the way Lian told this story this morning.

Love your show!

Sedation dentistry. There is no reason that you should ever have to go through that again. Ever. Of course, you might need a ride to and from the office, but it will be worth it. I know.
I have a million dollar mouth myself, so I know what I am talking about! Take care Lian–and I was laughing hysterically at all of your stories. LOVED the story of Sheila playing cards in a dress. And Monica, you crack me up! Liz, I’d love to see pics of your hair!

Ow-w-w. I’m in pain hearing about it, ouch…again? Are you done now? Is this the work to repair what the horrible dentist did to you? You deserve several frozen yogurts. I envisioned The Marathon Man with Dustin Hoffman….and the dental equipment. Ugh.

Monica – good for you! A little make up is always nice…do what you feel comfortable with.
Good show….. Thank you for all the wonderful media outlets for Satellite Sisters/Chaos C.

I laughed until my sides hurt! The contagious familial hilarity was almost too much to bear… love you all!

Sisters, this was the perfect medicine at the end of a really gloomy weekend: so much laughter it brought me to tears!

Armed with Monica’s info on the 2012 beauty trend and Liz’ bravery, I got my haircut at Wal-mart for $15. Very freeing: walk-ins welcome, sweet stylist, clean smock, no attitude, good cut.

Lian, my heart goes out to you and your dental pain; but your story was priceless.

Sheila, since t.v. went digital we get a whole channel of retro shows. I pictured you as June, as in Ward and June play cards with the Rutherfords (Fred and Gwendolyn) – or in your case The Rubbishes (archive April 9, 2008)!

Lian, I am really sorry you had to endure that much pain but the story was hilarious. Right up there with Officer Rubbish & your encounter with The Philbury Doughboy at the grocery store.

Sheila, you are quite the lady already. You don’t need to be more of a lady, you just need to find people that appreciate the lady you are.

Liz, I used to go to the expensive style salons. Now I found a lady at Super Cuts that is just perfect. I never get as many compliments as when she cuts my hair.

Monica, I kind of wish the beauty trend was less makeup. It is always nice to hear your laugh.

thanks girls for another hilarious and excellent podcast… so very sorry about the pain Lian, but who else could tell the story so humorously…I understood your plight as if it was me going through it…. the telling was that good…
the whole show was altogether too short!! with so much laughing, I wanted it to go on…Sheila and Monica …also funny and just authentically yourselves..just wonderful…all of you…

I had to stop listening to books on CD while driving because I got so wrapped up in the story, I felt I was a danger onthe road. Too many “I don’t remember driving at all, how’d I get here?”

Well, I’m going to have to stop listening to the sisters while driving. Listening to this show, I was laughing so hard, my eyes were watering, I couldn’t see, I was making all sorts of crazy sounds.

Thank you for a great podcast!

I listened to your show in a hazy state right before I fell asleep but did I hear Lian say she has had FOUR root canals this year or was that a dream? Holy cow, if so. And Monica, if you like Makeup Alley go to YouTube and enter Beauty Broadcast in the search. Her name is Emily and she’s a morning news anchor that is obsessed with make-up. I am obsessed with her YouTube channel. And prior to watching her, I would NEVER buy make-up at Wal-Mart or drug stores but do all the time now. Loved the show, ladies – what I remember of it anyway.

You had me laughing out loud while I was on my hands and knees scrubbing the bathroom floor today. But, hey! We play cards regularly around here! cribbage, gin rummy, golf, and we even play YAHTZEE! Guess it’s our MN roots. (and I’m in my 40’s, not living in a retirement community)

Really enjoyed this episode! I was laughing with you Lian, I’ve had several root canals, so I could relate! And Monica’s make-up news…you girls are tooo funny!
