Meanwhile, that cruise ship thing in Italy has us all a little freaked out.
Who knew those things happened any more? Liz recommends some upcoming Titanic specials on the National Geographic Channel if you have ANY desire left to get on one of those big boats.
Julie has a new business idea that makes a lot of sense: Apple meets Chicos. You are just going to have to listen to understand.
Monica has some suspicions about a guy that came to her door to do some election canvassing. We don’t blame her. But she’s definitely on board with pet resolutions even if she draws the line at walking cats on a leash. And if you haven’t checked out Portlandia on IFC, you gotta do it! At least check Portlandia’s Allergy Pride Parade on YouTube.

Julie and sisters,
My husband (age 53) has worked Apple retail now for a year and a half and he totally understands what older customers want and deserve and don’t often get from the hip youngsters that usually work there. In fact, many times he is now “requested” by his older customers, gets lots of repeat customers for training, etc, AND he has been the recipient of some delicious baked goods quite a few times from grateful customers!
Liz, Julie and Monica: This was so much fun! We are really on the same page this week.
Liz, I don’t want to trash a whole industry when people need jobs; but why would anyone want to take a cruise after the news stories about diseases and then this sinking?!?
Julie, I too need advice at the apple store. The Chico’s model would be just the ticket.
Monica, you were right to refuse the canvasser: really sketchy, should be reported to voter protection – perhaps League of Women Voters. And you know I love any podcast that includes the word “cat” (just the word is funny).
Ah, Portlandia! It’s priceless. Didn’t realize i had hipster tendancies. Uh-oh. May have found my people. Would that be so bad after all?
I’m glad you mentioned Chico’s because I had my first Chico’s experience in San Marcos, Texas. I went in looking for an outfit to interview in. The salesperson swept me up in the magic right away. We walked around the store looking for the right balance of hip and professional, while staying true to what I like. She gave me some options and I tried them on. The first thing she told me was to get out of the habit of tugging on my shirt. She offered to go to the interview with me to keep my hands away from my middle. Then, she said those words every woman wants to here: “Those slacks look great, but I bet a smaller size would fit better.” Music to my ears! I’m hooked! If it weren’t for my Satellite Sisters, I would not have stopped at Chico’s. Thanks, Satellite Sisters! And, thanks, Chico’s.
hi sisters…
you make me laugh, plain and simple….chico’s concept for technology..yes…sign me on; I am in the market for all things Mac but am inimidated and do not even know how to ask certain questions…and I am fairly savvy for my age and experience. and …you make me think…I enjoy your company every single day at some point…as I drive or as I drift off to sleep …that was a great fun podcast….chris
Many years ago, I lived in an apartment building with a cat. I thought she might enjoy some fresh air, so got a harness for her. The only thing she would do with the harness on was “play dead.” So much for that idea.
I loved the show. Thanks for the laughs!
